Welcome to my blog

Three years ago, I lived in Philly, worked an office job, was somewhat newlywed, and had just learned how to use a DSLR. I started blogging so I could post pictures. Fast-forward to today: a cross-country move, career change, and baby later, my dreams and passions have morphed, and so has the content of this blog.

Life is pretty simple right now: I'm a stay-at-home mom. Birthing a kid was both the hardest and most awesome thing I've ever done. Raising him is an adventure, and I'm stoked that it's just beginning! Life today is simple and ordinary, and I am incredibly blessed.

I blog so I won't forget. I also blog so I can forget (and move on to researching the next baby topic). Secretly, I also hope that one day my son will stumble across this and enjoy reading his mother's ramblings. Until then, I'll settle for my secret stalkers who read, but rarely ever leave a comment, ahem. Hope I'm entertaining you!

To Him be the glory,
Jen

ONE

James!!!! My baby!!! Center of my universe and love of my life, you are ONE year (and 9 days) old!!!  Happy birthday, bubba!! :) Mom and Dad love you so much!!!!!!

Went to your 12-month checkup a couple days ago, and the doctor says you’re looking good. (We knew that already. :) ) Your stats at one year: 20 lbs. 5 oz., 29 inches long, 2 teeth, walking everywhere, babbling a storm (uh oh, hello, buh, elmo, apo), started yelling too, sleeping through the night (most nights), experimenting with solids (toast is your favorite), member of the aquarium and zoo, frequent shopper at walmart, crazy about elmo, birds, and all things orange, 5-6 diapers a day, able to clap and point. Oh and you like to eat your shoes. Separation/stranger anxiety also seems to be easing up a little (though the real test will be next week!)

On your birthday, we went to the aquarium with popo (dad had to work), then to dinner at Aunt Maggie’s. It was a fun & laid-back day! You got an elmo balloon and had your first taste of cake. :) We celebrated with more people the next day at the fair, which was also nice & simple, but you didn’t care… you napped through a good portion of  it. :)

The sad part is, immediately after the party, I got sick (whatever you and Dad had, finally got me) and was stuck in bed for the rest of the day.  What a bummer!  I was upset I couldn’t play with and pamper you on your birthday weekend. And now, a week later, I still sound pretty horrible and am praying you stay healthy despite my relentless cough.

This month, April 2012, will go down as the month everyone in our family got sick, but more significantly the month you—our precious, once tiny, not so tiny anymore baby—turned ONE.  We are so blessed to have you in our lives.  What a year it’s been!
