Riana

A few more pictures from Sunday’s shoot and my first time doing layouts in photoshop…

Riana, you are sooooooo pretty!! : )

Can’t be perfect

How often I hear those words from Eric… that life isn’t perfect and he isn’t perfect and I certainly can’t be perfect. Today those words rang true again, as we reviewed photos from my first “real” photo shoot… that is, with a subject other than deer! I had the privilege of taking pictures for Riana, a friend and super talented violinist from church, with huge opportunities awaiting her… I can feel it!  She also happens to be incredibly beautiful – inside and out – and SOOO photogenic!  Here is proof. I’ll post more pictures later, but this short update is dedicated to my 2 faithful blog readers: mom & dad.  I love you!  And Riana, thank you for your confidence in me… we had lots of fun. : )  Can’t wait to do it again!!

Back to the title, it turns out that my ISO settings were off, so many of the shots that looked perfect on the camera’s tiny screen actually came out blurry on the big computer screen. Argh!!  We did get a handful of good, clear shots, but I was still a little disappointed. You can’t be perfect the first time, Jen, but we can keep practicing.  Thank God for learning experiences and an amazing coach (who also cooked dinner tonight and is now washing the dishes – I’m such a TERRIBLE wife!!).

Not a single bit left

Sometimes inspiration comes in the most unlikely places.  This time it was in a piece of junk mail!

When I stand before God at the
end of my life I would hope
that I would have not a single
bit of talent left and could say,

“I used everything
you gave me.”

Up close & personal

Eric snapped this shot of me while we were practicing this past weekend. I’m not sure what it is… the grass, the deer running away, the patched up house, or my valiant attempt to get up close & personal, but I like the picture!  I like the shooter even more. :)

Aliyah

This girl is adorable. She has the blackest, most piercing and beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen. She’s also incredibly advanced for her age, speed reading through seminary-level books.  Those kiddie toys and the car she’s sitting on?  Just decoys so her parents won’t catch on and make her go to school, she said.  ”You got a problem with that?” she demands with pursed lips. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve gotta get back to my book.”
