SoC: Running, Shoes, Pi(e) and Pictures

I’m not really a fan of stream of consciousness blogging, but I’m doing it anyway because there’s no way of coherently tying these thoughts together… you’ve been warned… you can stop reading!  Well in the last couple of weeks Eric and I have been jogging more and I got my first running injury a few days ago… nothing serious, just took a tumble… but to be able to say “I got a running injury” are words I never imagined would come out of my mouth!  Haha… thankfully it was only a scratch & bruise… which Eric has been helping me Neosporin & Band-aid nightly.  Sweet, no?  [Side note: he is doing dishes as I blog! So lucky!]  Anyway, we really should’ve gone running tonight, too, but it was cold and dark and Dancing With The Stars was on… we have a 5k race coming up this Sunday… my first race EVER… and I’m banking on adrenaline to help me finish it!!  I also need a new pair of running shoes…

Speaking of which, I’ve been browsing shoes a lot lately.  With two weddings coming up in May & June, I’m trying to find a comfy & pretty pair of gold heels.  I already found a pair, Cole Haans, but they were kinda pricey and I’m wondering if there’s anything more reasonable out there.  It makes me wonder if brand name shoes are really made of better quality than no-name shoes.  Are they worth their money, or am I just a victim of good marketing?

My good friend Elaine and her boyfriend Brian just got a new puppy and they named him Hachi, which means “eight” in Japanese.  She explained that there’s a show on TLC called Jon and Kate plus Eight, so it’s Elaine and Brian plus Eight.  Too cute!  Eric and I aren’t really the pet type… maybe goldfish, if anything… but it made me wonder… if we had a dog, what would we name him?  Eric says Rover.  Riiiiight.  This is why we don’t have a dog.

Two days ago, we celebrated Pi day by eating pie.  Apple pie.  Eric has mentioned at least 5 times in the last 2 days that apple is his favorite pie.  Eric, dearest, I get it.  It’s on the blog now… I won’t ever forget it!  Back in eighth grade, I memorized 50+ digits of pi and recited it on Pi Day for extra credit in Math class… I can’t believe I did that.

Well speaking of sweets… today I brought leftover cookies into the office.  They were gone within an hour.  It was fascinating to observe human behavior around free sweets.  I felt happy to give… and yet so guilty.  I avoided temptation of eating all the cookies myself… only by tempting others.  Terrible!!  I’m seriously considering bringing carrots and celery as redemption.

I dropped a package off in the mail last week… one that I had been anxiously preparing… and while driving away from the post office, I called to let Eric know the good news–that it was officially out of my hands and in God’s hands.  To which he corrected me that it was always in God’s hands.

Finally, because posts are more fun with pictures, here are a few random shots we took back in January.  We went to a nearby park, which happened to be by an air field.  While Eric took shots of planes…  …I had fun exploring an empty barn.  I think it would be a lot of fun to take pictures of someone here… any takers? And because these pictures don’t have much GREEN……a little green eye candy from the auto show last month, taken by Eric.  Eye candy for the guys, I guess.  I was more interested in the boba he promised me for coming along!
