Still waiting… starting to get antsy…

Last doctor’s visit: 32 pounds to date and a false alarm: doctor thought my water bag had broken and that I might check into labor & delivery the next day.  Nerves aside, we got ourselves mentally prepared (well, as much as possible, for unknown territory) for baby to arrive on Friday, April 8th… only to find out it was a false alarm and he’s not ready to come out yet!  Ever since then, though, the big day feels more real, more imminent, and we are all the more eager!  Eric seems increasingly distracted from his work (at least in the mornings) and often wonders when his “vacation” will start!

Lynne came to visit and it seemed promising that she’d get some action… but turns out all we did was eat, eat, and eat some more!  At this point, with the end in sight, I’ve lost all conviction to fight my sweet tooth and cravings and have been happily indulging in basically everything… : )

At 38 weeks, I’m also having a hard time sleeping at night, but luckily am able to make up for it by napping ALL DAY.  Various people have told me to “rest up” and all, but I’ve never rested so much in my life… it’s weird!

We are officially full term. Yay!

Our small group threw us a baby shower (joint w/ the Watari’s who are expecting a girl in June) and we felt really blessed.  Wish I had a camera to capture all the little details, but I was too busy enjoying the moment.  The food was baby-themed (baby veggies, baby shrimp, mini burgers, baby back ribs, baby brownies, etc., YUMMY), the drinks were pink & blue, there were decorations and favors and games and presents, and it was an overall super fun night!

It’s amazing how many things such a small human already owns. He has three thermometers (all given as gifts and employing different methods of measuring temperature, hehe), lots of clothes and hand-me-downs, blankets and towels and burp cloths galore… not to mention books, car seat and stroller, and bigger pieces of furniture (crib, changing table & dresser, and most recently rocking chair) that Eric has been awesome at assembling.  Sometimes we think this much stuff is crazy, but at the same time, we are thankful for such abundance and know that it’ll help ease both us and the baby into our new lifestyle ahead.  Thanks to our friends for their generosity!IMG_8711

Also, after nearly 3.5 years, we finally, finally threw away our wedding cake to make room in our freezer for frozen survival food. It was sad. Eric would not even let me take one last bite!  goodbye cakeWe also sold our coffee table (sniff) and replaced it with a foam mat that’s more kid-friendly…  coffee tableHospital bag is packed so now we’re just waiting for the grand entrance!
