So, I’ll openly admit that when it comes to Thai food, I am a high-maintenance diner. To my defense, I can’t help it; I’ve got a peanut allergy and the Thai people like to sprinkle peanut on everything! Eric and I usually share our entrees, so he knows by now to order “Pad Thai, with shrimp, no peanuts, cook the bean sprouts please, and… no peanuts, right? She’s allergic.” Well, last night we had dinner with a friend at a Thai restaurant, and since there were three of us, Eric probably assumed it was each man for himself. (At least I hope that was the case, cause otherwise Eric is mean! He doesn’t share!) Anyway, I decide to try the green curry this time and he orders Pad Thai. Period. “Oh, can you cook the bean sprouts please?” Period. He might as well have been shouting “Bring on the peanuts!! This dish is all mine!” And I kid you not, I saw this look in his eyes that said Haha, woman, I’m livin it up. I’m eatin peanuts tonight! It was a good thing I didn’t feel like Pad Thai anyway.

Well, halfway through his meal, Eric looks over to me and asks “Is my lower lip puffy?” His eyes were all Jen, what have you done to me?!? I was never allergic to peanuts before! And I replied “No, it looks OK. Are you alright? Maybe you should stop eating.” But he must have noticed my eyes giggling or something, cause as he put his fork down, he shot me a glance which said This is not funny! I’m NOT allergic!!

I guess after being married a while, two people just start to grow on each other. Husband and wife start to talk alike, think alike, look alike (yikes–just kidding Eric!), and be allergic to the same things. It’s true, Eric, just admit it!! I’ve also started picking up this inaudible language that he sends me (and only me!) through his eyes. Constantly telling me things like Jen, you’re right. Jen, you’re the best thing that ever happened to me. Jen, can I wash the dishes for you? Jen, I’ll give you a massage tonight. What? You scraped a pole and scratched the car? That’s ok Jen, it’s just a car. Yeah, seriously, marriage is great! My husband is great! Just don’t feed him peanuts, people, because he is allergic to them!!

PS. While I’m sharing things that Eric won’t admit to himself, let me also tell you that he is addicted to LOST! And I can’t follow, the storyline is too convoluted!
